As a perl coder, I use a bunch of sigils and special characters, which are much more easily produced using an english keyboard layout, rather than the norwegian one, where writing characters like |{}[] requires something akin to a vulcan death-grip. However, it kind of irked me that I have an American flag in the corner of my laptop most of the time. However, I've found a most pleasant replacement, which works just the way I am used to:
I've also set up the mac so I can switch back and forth with cmd-alt-space, so that I can write æøå when I correspond with people in Norwegian without too much trouble.
We just came back from a short trip to Prague. We had a great time, and Olga has uploaded some pictures to picasaweb. Here's a sample:
So, after buying the Pentax K10D 6 months ago, a camera I'm really satisfied with, I've finally bought some decent optics for it to supply the kit lens. I've been agonizing for months about what to get, and changed my mind a few times, but I finally ended up buying a 40mm pancake, and a sigma 70-300 1:2 macro lens. This is what they look like:
I'm totally looking forward to going out and testing them some more after work today. They seem really great so far.
My wife have just become a member of www.vkontakte.ru, a new social network for russians, which seems to have taken a lot of their ideas from facebook. In fact, they seem to have taken their design as well. Bet the facebook guys aren't very happy about that :)

Actually, the explanation is simple. Marsedit 1.2.0 happened. Thanks to the effort of Daniel Jalkut, who bought marsedit, and is bringing it to a brave new world, you can now post to your vox blog from Marsedit (If you happen to have a mac :). However, due to limitations in the Vox Atom API, you still can't edit or delete posts through the client. I am hoping Sixapart will fix this limitation soon, but already being able to post without having to fire up a browser and logging in to Vox feels totally awesome. Hopefully I will be able to keep this blog more up to date from now.
So like... My Pentax K10D has support for a wireless remote through infrared. My N73 cellphone also has infrared. My thinking is that it should be possible (easy?) to trigger my camera through the cellphone. However, I don't have the l33t skills to hack together cellphone java apps. This would definitively be shareware I'd buy (unless it cost more than the remote :)
We're leaving on a two weeks vacation to Thailand today. For that reason, I've set up a new photo blog to try to cover our travels in pictures at photo.thefeed.no . Apparently there is wireless in our hotel, so expect daily updates in the next 14 days at least :)
When you have copied the javascript, go back to vox, and compose a new post. There will be an 'embed' link on the top menu next to photos, audio, video and so on. Just paste your code into the box, and you are done :)
