Frenzic (Shareware 14.95$)
The cool guys at Iconfactory has announced the release of Frenzic, a new and devilishly addictive puzzle game. Arne tipped me about at the end of work today, and I almost puked in the car on the way home playing it :) Having recovered a little, I spent some time with it on the couch, and I have to say it's a simple and addictive concept.
The idea is that you have a set of circles divided up into pie charts, like a Trivial Pursuit piece, and the system keeps spitting new pieces at you that you have to fit somewhere. The pieces has various colors, and you get more points if you use less colors in a circle, but if you don't place it, you loose a life. If you manage a unicolored circle you get an extra life, and sometimes also a bonus.
That's pretty much it, and it goes faster and faster until you loose :) So far, I haven't been able to keep it up more than a few minutes, but I keep trying :) The game also has a online part, where you can track highscores and more, so I'd better shape up before I sign up to that :)
One thing that's annoyed me on osx is that locate doesn't work, and there's no updatedb script. Turns out they've just renamed it. This snippet shows you how to update your locate db. If you want to run it on a regular interval, you can download this plist I generated using Launchd Editor, and put it into /Library/LaunchDeamons on your machine.

I so hope this mockup is accurate. This thing looks so cool. It's finally a worthy replacement for the iMac lamp. I swear, macs are furniture.
Since I've recetly re-entered the secret society of mac-wielding laptop users, I wanted to set up a desktop client to post to my blogs. Since I bought NetNewsWire back then, I've also got a license to use MarsEdit, which seems to be a nice enough tool.
After poking a little around and googling, I managed to set up my LiveJournal blog, where I keep all my programming/Catalyst related stuff, thanks to this comment on inessential.com, the personal blog of the marsedit/NNW creator, Brent Simmons. However, Getting Vox working proved to be harder.
Through bothering Miyagawa, and finding this post to confirm it. I managed to determine that they do support an ATOM endpoint, http://www.vox.com/atom/, however, After setting up MarsEdit to use the Blogger API (Which is atom based) and using alternatively my email and my blog name as blog id, MarsEdit only responds 'Server Certificate has expired'. What certificate? Where? How frusterating.
