Just found this neat service on del.icio.us It allows you to upload your pictures, and returns a polaroid of it. Here is a pic I took in the summer when visiting a friend in Bergen. Must say the result looks pretty cool. :)
We went to Russia this weekend. Olga's brother Sergey got married
to a girl in Murmansk in July this summer, and they had a party for their family in St. Petersburg to celebrate on Saturday. Since we had no oportunity to go in July, we went to celebrate with them now instead.
While there, I had decided to buy a blitz. I'm really unhappy with the results from the built-in blitz in the EOS 350, and with winter just around the corner here in Norway, it's going to get dark real soon. The original plan was to get one of the cheapest Sigma blitzes, as Jan told me he was pretty happy with his. However, when we got to the foto.ru shop, I noticed the EM 140 DG.
I thought ring blitzes was about 700USD, but I was able to pick it up there for about 400USD. Of course, it's main purpose is macro photography, but it's also totally useful for party photography. I took a bunch of portraits and dancing pictures at the wedding party, and it worked out great for that. I'll upload some of those once I've gone through them and cleaned them up.
It's also got a ton of functions, so I guess it'll take a while before I'm able to use it's full potential. For instance, you can adjust how much light should be emitted from the right/left tube, or even just use one of them.
For now, here's one of my test pictures from today, one of our cactuses:
I'd love to go here and take pictures. What an awesome and interesting place.
This weekend, Olga and I went to visit Salve, a friend of mine who works at the Norwegian Meterological Institute. He had borrowed a Lighthouse from his employer for a week's vacation. The lighthouse lies on the south coast of Norway, and it's very idyllic. We took a boat to get out there, and there are no cars or other people on the island it's located. All in all, it was a great gettaway from city life. Just the kind of breather you need to recover from a week's hard work :)
Olga and I decided to drive off for a sunday road trip yesterday. We were armed with a norwegian map book, but quickly found that inadequate, so we picked up a map book over Oslo at a gas station. One of our first destionations were the lense museum pictured above. It's not related to lenses at all. This is where they recieved timber that was floated down the river, and tied it up into bunts, for further transport.
